Daily newspaper. I don't read magazines often.

Quote:
2) What are the other means you use to get more information on current issues ?

Internet.

Quote:
3) Do you have a critical eye when you read the information, or do you believe the journalists ?

I tend to believe it if the information is given as a fact not opinion. In fact, I usually skip opinion columns since I don't trust the jounalists to provide an objective view.

Quote:
4) Do you look for more information about the given subject ? Where ?

If the subject is of interest to me, I will compare it with information from other newspaper or from the Internet.

Quote:
5) Since out break of the avian flu, have you changed your consumption habits ?

No.

Quote:
6) At the moment, do you buy

As much as before. Properly prepared chicken meat does not pose a threat.

Quote:
7) Are you reassured by a safety label when you find it on a product containing chicken ?

I don't buy processed meat product in general.

Quote:
8 ) The virus of the avian flu virus is destroyed after cooking or deep freezing.
Δ yes
Δ no

Deep freezing? No. Cooking? Yes. (just like all other flu viruses)

Quote:
9) An avian influenza epidemic Δ can occur Δ cannot occur without the mutation of the virus.

Cannot occur. It most likely has already mutated multiple times anyway, so this question contains little value.

Quote:
10) Do you think the newspapers deals Δ not enough Δ enough Δ too much with this subject ?

Justify

Enough. I'm satisfied that the newspaper is warning the public of a possible epidemic, yet not so much that it takes the headline everyday.

Quote:
11) Is it an important issue to you ?
Δ yes
Δ no

No.

Quote:
12) Do you think we should do something about the avian flu ?
Δ yes
Δ no

Yes.

Quote:
If your answer is yes, what should we do ?

Monitor high-risk regions, organize response plans, maintain public awareness, devise treatments of adequate amount for the possibility of an epidemic. The usual, basically.

Hi. I'll try to answer the best I can =)
1)Newspaper: I regulary read two of them which are of serious content. (Can't say I'm interested in second-page beauties!)
Magazines: Monthly political ones.
2)Web sites. (indymedia, to be more particular)
3)It doesn't make sense without criticising, does it? :)
4)Ummm... Library, maybe.
5)A little bit.
6)Less than before. I just can't be sure.
7)Never trust "labels".
8)Freezing doesn't have an effect on the virus but cooking is effective.
9)Odds are it can.
10)Enough. They give out sufficient information on the subject.
11)Well, yes.
12)Don't have an idea.
Hope this can be of help.

1) What type of newspapers or magazines do you read ?
I used to subscribe to many news and science magazines and get 2 newspapers. But I never had time to read them. So now Im down to just one monthly gaming magazine.

2) What are the other means you use to get more information on current issues?
TV news, internet news sites, news & talk radio.

3) Do you have a critical eye when you read the information, or do you believe the journalists ?
Most journalists are deceitful lying facktards with built-in biases, issues to push, and axes to grind. Take em with a grain of salt.

4) Do you look for more information about the given subject ? Where ?
Internet mostly.

5) Since out break of the avian flu, have you changed your consumption habits ?
Nope.

6) At the moment, do you buy
- as much as chicken
- less chicken
- more chicken
Justify

As much. The average person is more at risk from salmonella poisoning than avian flu virus. But thorough cooking kills both.

7) Are you reassured by a safety label when you find it on a product containing chicken?
No. Cook it thoroughly anyway.

Cool The virus of the avian flu virus is destroyed after cooking or deep freezing.
Δ yes
Δ no

Cooking yes, freezing no.

9) An avian influenza epidemic Δ can occur Δ cannot occur without the mutation of the virus.
Dont know. But these things are mutating all the time anyway, so even if it cannot occur yet, a human pandemic is possible later.

10) Do you think the newspapers deals Δ not enough Δ enough Δ too much with this subject ?
Enough.
Justify
There are bigger fish to fry in my world. Bird flu is just one more scary story lurking out there among many.

11) Is it an important issue to you ?
Δ yes
Δ no

No.

12) Do you think we should do something about the avian flu ?
Δ yes
Δ no

Yes.
If your answer is yes, what should we do ?
Start by teaching proper safe animal handling methods to people in places where bird flu is most likely to strike.
