Midnight Express is a biased film. Even Billy Hayes has later admitted that Oliver Stone had exaggerated what had happened. The film portraits Turkey as an unbelievably underdeveloped country. No scenes were actually shot in Turkey so the film is far from giving a real perspective. Also the characters were intentionally, i believe, selected to be "ugly looking" to vilify the outlook of a normal Turkish person (and also none of the characters was Turk). The costumes represent those that were used in Turkey in the beginning of the 20th century.
This is not to say the film is completely fictious but it is definitely exaggerated. It gives out the message that "Turkey sucks as a whole...as well as every Turkish citizen that lives there..."

Why not judge so, when millions judge the entire universe on one dubious book (The Koran). _________________ Choo Choo |

Stop with the posting then huh? with your Islamic topics, enough. How would you like loads of Christian threads, or Hindu threads huh? , well they would be banned in most Muslim countries anyway. _________________ Choo Choo |

Well clearly you do not know enough about Turkey. Turkey is not ruled by the Koran unlike other Islamic countries or filled with Muslim terrorists planning to bomb you. A large percentage of the Turkish population are Muslims but they are not terrorist and they do not judge the universe on "one dubious book"...in fact the Muslim population, or the number of people practising the deeds of Islam, is dropping heavily nowadays, but you are so prejudiced that you probably will not accept this either so you will go on calling Turkey "a barbarian Islamic country" counting on the belief that "Midnight Express" is a % 100 true movie... _________________ born to lose, losing to live, living to die... |

when you hear the word "turk" hamit comes to your mind right?
a cruel,barbarian pervert...
we cant say there arent hamits in turkey.
but also we cant say turks are all hamits.
do you(or should you?) remember abraham lincoln or what was being done to the blacks when you hear the word "america"?
should we remember hitler when we hear the word "german"
is there a need of generalizing ? _________________ invasion is so succexy so succexy. |
