The Taiwanese should decide whether they want to be part of China or not. It is not for the Chinese to Bully them into it.

Hey guys, stop fighting. Everyone may have there own opinion. But if you are a Chinese or a Taiwanese student you may have learnt in history classes that Taiwan was being taken back from The Chung (鄭氏) family in Ching dynasty by Kang Shi (康熙). Then in the year 1894, Taiwan was given to Japan Because of the 甲午 war. But after 51 years, Taiwan was once again ruled by the Chinese. Although now Taiwan and China has different government running, but through the history, there has not been a thing that mentions Taiwan is "compleletly" independent. So just think about it in the historical way, don't decide Taiwan is whether independence or not because of politics. Take it calm, I'm sure you'll get an answer.

Taiwan is a part of China,it is obvious! it is stand to reason!
I can't understant why you say it like that, look at your history and culture, are you a Chinese? are you a posterity of Chinese? are you have Spring Festive? are you write Chinese? are you speak Chinese? the easy way,you should look at your name, are you make up of Chinese?
if you all say no,ok,you are not a person.
I'm a Chinese and I'm very proud of it!
I'm so sad to see what did you post! Sad

First, I think you need to study English harder. Your vocabulary is very small.
Second, it is true. Chinese workers work almost everyday for under 800 yuan a month. But you wouldn't know. Your daddy has paid for everything. I won't respond anymore. You think on a very low level and I can't go down that low.
I like most Chinese people, but the "one child policy" has unfortunately created a lot of spoiled brats.

thank you for your apprehend.^_^
he is so unwisdom, if he want to independency,he can try that.
if taiwan want to independency,go to try that.
I'm sure he will have a bad future, so does taiwan. every Chinese will not allow this,so,if he want to challenge Chinese and China,he should have a try.
I want to laugh at his end.and every "absolute Taiwanese".

We ,every one, should give reason to express ideas. Not simply stick tosome words!
One thing is common. We all like peace. We hope to solve it in a peaceful way!

I mean U.S.A .
Americans set millitary to interfere in 1949.
At that time, china does not have power to fight with it.
So taiwan is seperated.
I feel my English so bad!

I have seen it argued that the legitimate government of China is actually in Taiwan and that the present government in China is therefore illegitimate.
Discuss.

See here.

To summarize, the Republic of China (aka Taiwan) is no longer the legitimate government of China and most Taiwanese recognize that as well. The issue now is that PROC refuses to withdraw their threats of military interference. I guess they realize that the Taiwanese majority won't trade away their freedom without guns pointed at the heads.

Actually, Taiwan is not a part of China.
It is an island and so it is separate from China.
England is an island 21 miles away from France, but France does not consider it to be part of France.
At least not any more.

So Taiwan is separate physically. Also it has its own military, a separate economy, and its own democratic government.
Therefore in every sense of the word, Taiwan is an independent country.
However, because China is big and strong, there is a stupid thing going on in the governments of the world. To keep China happy, they agree not to say that Taiwan is independent.

Are we all children that such stupid games should be played by our alleged "leaders"?

Taiwan is a province of China,
China is a country.

A "province" with its own military and central government. A "province" with its own national anthem and flag. A "province" that is the target of 400 or so ballistic missiles from China. Makes a lot of sense, eh?

I always wonder about that. Nuke tipped or conventional?

As far as I know, conventional. However, the Chinese M-9 short range ballistic missile is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, and they clearly stated that they are willing to use nukes over this issue less than an year ago.
