What does the following sentence mean?
"...you could tell she was just trying to get in good with me."

It means she was doing something to make "me" like her, and not being very serious or genuine about it.
"He's trying to get in good with the boss by dating his daughter" --means that he's not being honest or serious about dating the boss's daughter--he's only doing it to achieve a different goal. |
