Hello,
which is the correct modal in the following sentences:
1.I think we (should/must) invite Same- he is a good friend.
2.We (should/must) invite Sam- he invited us last week.
Can we consider both answers correct but with different degrees? |

Hello.
You are correct in that each modal is grammatically correct, but reflects a different degree. The word "should" means a sense of obligation to invite Sam, because he is your friend (or invited you last week). "Should" does not imply that you will actually invite him though. If you use "must" you are saying that you "have to" invite him and that you "will" invite him.
