Hello everyone.
The following is a task given in the�conditional�section in a grammar exercise book.
Complete the sentence below, using the verb in the brackets.
�If he was given the chance, he (study) abroad.�
My answers:
1. studied
2. would study(There are two interpretations possible for this, I think.)
3. probably[perhaps, possibly] studied
4. should[must] have studied
Are all the above possible answers? A friend of mine insists that #1 is impossible.

Hi fw,
Try:
If he were given the chance, he would study abroad.
Or:
Given the chance, he would study abroad.
Or:
Given the chance, he would probably study abroad.
#1 is not possible.
