I found the article like this:
Ref stops the fight in the beginning. Castillo has too much Vasaline in his face. They remove it, and the fight continues. Castillo again tries to cut down the ring, but Casamayor does a good job avoid the trap.
Casamayor lands a few good punches while moving back and forth, avoiding Castillo. Castillo tries to come in close, and Casamayor clinches.
Idon't understand what "cut down the ring" means. Is this an idom or something for Boxing? |

It is a boxing expression.
It means trying to reduce the amount of space the boxer has to move in.
A good example would be trying to get the boxer into a corner so that he has no room to get away from your punches. |
