Hello friends….!!!! Smile

Have all of you heard about Web Based English Learning??? It`s means using materials which are available on the web in order to learn English. As we know, nowadays, web has became a wonderful resource for language learning.
Web-Based Learning is important because it enables the learners to work with authentic language materials and to verify their comprehension through some kind of testing and feedback. Apart from that, it also enables the learners to interact with one another in order to use the language for real communication. Moreover, materials on the web can be updated easily and the learners can have their own path of learning.
I just want to know your opinions….Do you all think Web Based Learning will affect the normal teaching and learning scenario that we are having now?? Can computers and web replace human beings in teaching English ?? Please share with me your opinions……

i think yes it can but not emensly. The mojority of people will always want in room person to contact/learning/socialising. If it was going to take over then i think you see the same thing already happening to normal schooling around the world. Also there are always people out there who want to raught the sytems, which will also scare people from using these new ways of learning.

it is definitely a good topic under students' forum discussion but i dont think web based learning programme acually effects any learning process in our campus life since we basiccaly dont do much work in the web-based environment...we are more into per person evaluation compared to learning certain courses via the internet, right??im actually doing my thesis on something to do with CALL or more known as Computer Assisted Language Learning which has a collaboration with web-based learning and i really do agree with ur opinion of replicating humans in the form of computers cause we dont get a chance to meet up with the instructors hence communicate with then through e-mails wholly!!!

Web Based Learning can be a great help in learning language. The availability of exercises and self test activities are a real help.It is very suitable for students who want to improve their language skills but do not have the time to enrol in a full time institute. Very convenient and easy to follow. However, it will take some time before it can be implemented to replace classroom teaching. Some students do need personal attention.
