The word "voice" means the sound human made.
What word can I use to describe a sound made from animals?
Thank you. |

Hi dido4,
We simply say they are animal sounds. Each animal or type of animal has its own sound. When the pronunciation of a word or group of words is close to the sound it describes, we call that an onomatopoeia. Animal sounds are often (onomatopeia).
dogs bark (bow-wow, woof)
cats (meow)
snakes (hiss)
pigs (oink)
cows (moo)
owls (hoot)
bees (buzz)
ducks (quack)
sheeps go (baa)

We could also say that they are animal noises. They are onomatapoeic in a way. To further illustrate:
A bell goes ding dong - the word describes the sound the bell makes. It is an attempt to put into words how the sound sounds.
Sheep go baa - as above. |
