Is it acceptable in American English to read 7.005 as seven point zero zero five?

Not sure about that but in British English we would normally say seven point nought nought five, though zero is also correct but not normally used.

Not really, although in Britain, people do say O when quoting telephone numbers. It is certainly not used with the number you refer to, in my knowledge.

It is actually incorect to say O at all since you are mixing alphabetical and numerical. With numbers, use the numerical. That means saying nought or zero.

In American English, it is common and acceptable to say either:

seven point zero zero five

or

seven point oh oh five
