Dear teachers:

I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me the correct answers to this exercise:

1. Some streets were brilliantly illuminated, with small stores _____
light from their open doorways.
A. blazing B. glaring C. blaring D. glowing
2. Traveling extensively, the old bard was _____ with the dilemma of
having too many folk songs to choose from.
A. confused B. confronted C. empowered D. disturbed

Best wishes,
Valja

I would say:

1. Blazing.

Glaring can refer to light, but the connotation is negative.
Blaring refers to noise.
Glowing refers to softer light surrounding something, not bright light pouring out of something (a doorway).

2. Confronted.

While you might be confused by a dilemma, you are not confused with one.
Dilemmas do not empower (and empower would also require the preposition by).
This particular dilemma (knowing many songs) does not seem very disturbing for a bard.
