I read a greeting like this in a messageboard discussing food: "Morning campers, hi de hi."
So do campers equivalent to people/folks a common expression? And I think 'hi de hi'means 'hi', but I'm curious to know where it was originated.
Thanks and good day.

It is an expression meaning hello that became popular through a TV programme in England called "Hi-De-Hi", which was based on life in English holiday camps in the 1950s. It was how the staff in the holiday camp greeted the campers (holidaymakers, since they were not really camping in tents but staying in chalets in a secluded area known as a holiday camp).
