Marlen posts a question starting with "Hello Native Speaker"
Some good-hearted guy gives a great answer to her question. She's happy. He's happy. End of story, right?
NOT!
First a guy (who has nothing in his OWN profile) can't resist picking on the native speaker.

| Are you a teacher or a student? You do not say so in your profile. I hope you do not claim to be a teacher, because there were spelling mistakes in your advice, which is a bad thing for a teacher to display when advising a student. |
When the native speaker who DARED to answer a question addressed to a native speaker defends himself, along comes another member of the teacher police.

timtom, you should not object to having your spelling mistakes pointed out so that students will learn from these mistakes. And may I suggest that you should not give advice to students as if you were a teacher. By all means give advice as a native English speaker, albeit a slovenly one, but not as a teacher

(OOOOOOH! Shame on you Advoca! You forgot to put a period at the end of your sentence! You'd better run and edit it quickly before someone notices!)
UHHHH did I miss something??? Did timtom ever say he was a teacher????
And where does it say that only teachers can answer questions? Is it really OK for people who call themselves teachers (if they really are), to call the people who come here to help "slovenly"?

Perhaps you didn't notice my name as a moderator, Boy Rates. As someone who felt confident in telling Advoca how he should respond to students, you certainly have not taken your own advice to heart. Those who frequent this forum have heard what I have stated as the policy concerning posts. I delete all the posts that are advertising. I try to leave most of the posts, although on occasion I ask Dave's advice. It was Dave, for example, who deleted some posts in one of the threads that some students complained about.
Most people feel comfortable contacting the moderator using a private message. I respond to all private messages. As I have stated before, I do this for free. I check the Forum at least twice a day. Your nasty post, which I will let stand, doesn't even have a link to the post in question.
Perhaps you should practice what you preach. (A common saying, for those students reading, which means you should act the way you say other people should act.)
In addition, I don't catch every post that may be a problem. There is a button on the right side of the posts that has an exclamation point on it. You can push that to report a post, which will bring it to my attention. In addition, you can mention something to me in a Private Message. |

| I'm sorry you're offended, Lorikeet, but many others have "been there, done that" with no result. I wrote to Dave. No reply. Others have written with the same result. Mods all say there are no rules about posts unless they're ads. So . . . what's a "Boy" to do? Amen. |

Apparently make 23 nasty posts illustrating to students an inappropriate way to behave on a forum I guess. Congratulations, you did a good job. |

| I'm sorry you're upset, but I have no apology for my posts. I think you'll find that many here are very relieved at the result. |
