Sorry to be the *bearer* of bad news....

Is that like, "Sorry I have a bad news for you..."?

THanks

"bear," as a verb, has several meanings, and one of them is "to hold" like in this sentence. One thing I wanted to point out: you can say "Sorry, I have bad news for you" without the article "a," or say "some bad news." "News" is considered plural, meaning "pieces of information."
