I'm Filipino, so I come from the Philippines which is made up of 7,107 islands.
All in all there are 80+ native languages; however, 8 are considered "major languages" -- Tagalog, Kapampangan, Ilocano, Pangasinense, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Bicolano. Out of the 8, I know 2 - Tagalog and Ilocano.
The national lanuage is Filipino, which is heavily based on Tagalog.
English is a co-official lanuage and is usually used for business purposes or formality. There are a very few Spanish speakers. Hokkien Chinese is spoken among the Fil-Chinese community(90% of Fil-Chi are Hokkiens; the rest are Cantonese.). |
