Hello,
First and foremost I would like to express my gratitude in joining Dave's ESL Cafe and this forum. I would like to know your opinion regarding the learning and teaching of English Language using Websites from the Internet. Do you think using the websites to teach English would be as effective as teaching done by the traditional teacher? I hope you would give your views regarding this topic as I'm keen on knowing the effects of using such a method. Thank You |

I think learning ESL is productive as a supplement to your classroom exercise. A teacher can build the essential skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking if a website is integrated as a classroom exercise. It generates alot of interest and motivation for students to want to learn.
Latest stats suggest that Asia & Europe has grown by 200% in internet user numbers in the last 5 years. But Asia has the slowest internet response time and highest packet loss in the world. I think it might take a while for Asians to adopt the internet as a means for online learning.
I've been using websites for distance learning via web-conferencing. I think this will be the way ESL students will learn English in the future. _________________ English Teacher
