China has a longer coastline, and China has a bigger area, but China doesn't have aircraft carrier?China's military capability is so poor,so many persons hope China is able to have aircraft carrier.but others think that China is a developing country, and China doesn't need military expanding,so China doesn't need aircraft carrier.
According to condition of China, what do you think about whether China should have aircraft carrier?

If you plan to rival the USA you'd better have several.

Chinese currently have no intetions to expand their military influerences. So aircraft carrier seems not urgent. The major concern of Chinese is how to deal with Taiwan's independence, and the following possibly conflicts with the jointed forces of USA and Japan. Although it's unlikely to happen, better to be prepared for the worst situation.

There will be no situation if China's leaders swallow their egos and allow Taiwan to do what it wants.
This is unlikely though, because Chinese are not allowed to leave China, even for a trip, without the government's permission.

That's a very emotional way to put it. Smile

The restriction of going abroad is gradually lifting up. I don't know for other people. I know that students are free to go to other countries for education. Officials may got some reviews, in case they're corruptted ones and trying to fleet away. As for poor people, it's more like a migration control. China doesn't pay too many attentions on illegal migration.

I'm not saying that everything makes sense. I know what you mean. But on the other hand, in a extreme and funny situation, if a country says they're willing to take a million Chinese, China wouldn't hesitate to accept.

many chinese younger hope China builds two aircraft carrier at least, but I think China doesn't need aircraft carrier now.At present,China need develop finance. In fact, chinese doesn't be rich, and many people are still very poor
today,I took a new about the aircraft carrier had been brought from Russia for tourism which would be auctioned. So if China will build aircraft carrier, she doesn't buy a waste aircraft carrier from Russia for tourism.

You're talking about the former Soviet carrier "Minsk".
It was sold as junk about 10 years ago and was used for a theme park.
It's still junk.
If you are going to have aircraft carriers it is better to build your own.
It will make lots of jobs for Chinese workers.
It is a Big Shiny Impressive toy to delight your admirals.
It can sail around to impress the world, and it will cost the Chinese people a fortune to build and maintain.
Also Chinese military aviators are going to have the absolutely unrivalled pleasure of trying to land a jet fighter on a moving ship, in the dark, at 300 kilometers per hour.
They will be living in interesting times.

It's not just the carrier, it's the whole carrier group they will have to build and maintain, which means cruisers, support ships, and attack subs to defend it. If they can afford that and a space program, well, good luck.

Better start practicing now. Attach tailhooks to some twin-engine migs and throw arresting cables across runways and see if they can hit it. The "error" part of this trial-and-error can get very costly in men and materiel.

you are both right, if China will build aircraft carrier, there will be many job opportunities, but the aircraft carrier will been spend money too much, so I think that China will not build aircraft carrier at present,it is a large finance burden.

The purpose of an aircraft carrier (group) is to project your nation's power to anywhere around the world. Nobody is likely to mess with China, so you really don't need one.
