What does a subject phrase mean?
When your local robins return, the males call dibs on worms, marking their territories with a distinctive song: cheer-up, cheer-up, cheer-a-lee.

| If you call "dibs" on something, it means you want to be the one to get it. The robins that call "dibs" on the worms want to get the them. |
