Hello,

As the sentence says, "Many more tornadoes occur in many places." What does "many more" mean? Why can "many" and "more" be combined together?

Thanks a lot!!

"Many more" just means a lot more.

Let's imagine that in the last 50 years one place has had 2 tornadoes, another has had 3, and 20 have had at least 15. The second place has had more tornadoes than the first (3 and 2), but not many more. On the other hand, the places that have had at least 15 tornadoes have had many more tornadoes than either of the first two places.
