The answer is 'have been working."
(Question)
If I rewrite the sentence like this, can I choose 'had worked' as the correct answer?

[color=blue] Not really. Past perfect shows that something has finished before another action/time in the past. So...if they didn't take a holiday, they are probably still working too hard. So, I would still use Present Perferct.
