Dear Teachers,
1.Youre so out of my league.
-What does this mean?
2.The band Wet Wet Wet used to sing love is all around. So what does this mean?
3.Celine Dion used to sing Im everything I am. So what does this mean?
4.Either they want to marry with the wrong motives or they just got too carried away with out knowing the other person very well.
-What does they just got too carried away mean?
5. If the subject is of interest to me, I will compare it with other newspapers.
- is of interest to me means If the subject interests me, right?
Thanks a lot to Teachers,
Stevenukd. |

Hi Stevenukd,
Some of these are tough. I'll answer the ones I'm most confident about first.
5. Yes!
4. It means that they get so focused on one aspect of the whole that they pay no attention to other aspects. For example, I may very much want to find a woman to marry. When I find one who returns that eagerness, I focus only on that. I miss the fact that I really don't have a lot of passion for her. We'll find that out after it's too late.
1. To be out of ones league is to be mismatched in some way. If I say simply, "She's out of my league," I mean that she would never go out with a guy like me. She can date any guy she wants... Or I might say, "I'd like to have that job, but it's out of my league," it means that I lack many of the qualifications for such a job... The "so" is an intensifier that is used in today's slang.
2. It might mean that everywhere you look, you see love - sweethearts kissing, a father playing with his child, two birds chirping together on a telephone wire... It might mean that I am in love, so everywhere I look I see what I interpret to be love... It may mean something else.
3. This is the toughest one. To me, it sounds like an affirmation of myself. I have my strong points; I have my weak points. I'm no better for my strong points and I'm no worse for my weak points... Something along those lines, perhaps. |
