Hello,

There are several expressions having the "go ~ing" form to mean "do something," such as "go shopping," "go fishing," "go skiing," "go grocery shopping," "go swimming."

When you use the above expressions as the present continuous (as a response to the question such as "what are you doing now?", what is the correct usage for each?

Can I simply say, for example, "I'm (grocery) shopping now"?

Thank you for your help.

You can say I'm grocery shopping now or I'm doing my grocery shopping now if you are in the supermarket with the cart, choosing your food.
But if you are just telling someone at your house that you are leaving for the supermarket, you can say I'm going shopping now.

The same goes for the other phrases you mentioned:

I'm swimming now means I'm in the lake or swimming pool right now.
I'm going swimming now means I'm leaving the house now to go to the pool.
