but it gets real old,real fast. = but it gets very tiresome, very quickly.
Something gets old when you have had it up to here. It's something that you're tired of, or sick and tired of. It's something that happens repeatedly, and makes you angry, or is very annoying, or gets on your nerves. (It's not easy describing it without using another idiom!)
Ex.:
Dan's constant criticisms of everything gets real old, real fast.
What's with Lynn lately, always coming up with those dumb puns?. It's getting old.
How long is that construction going to last? The dust all over everything is getting old. |
