I've read this sentence.
'Since a plant is normally a very welcome present, many of us give one without thinking carefully about how difficult it can be to look after it. '
In my opinion, just ' give one' is incorrect. 'give one to others' is correct.
What's your opinion? |

No. The sentence is fine. Your sentence would be possible grammatically, but 'foreign' sounding as 'give' implies 'to others' and thus, these last 2 words would be redundant.
