Dear teachers,
I have a couple of questions about a prom.
I heard that a prom is a dance party for graduates and they usually
attend it in pairs.

My questions are:
Suppose that you are a graduate who has a girl friend younger than you or older than you.
Can you take her to the prom or do you have to look for someone else
as a partner among other graduates just for the prom ?
If so, the prom would be attended not only by graduates but also
other people of various ages. Can anyone attend the prom
if only being asked to come with by a graduate ?
I need your help.

Thank you very much.
Iwana

It has been awhile since my prom days, but let's see what I can remember. Wink

Actually, there are often several proms for different grades (meaning different years in school: 10th grade = sophomore prom.... 11th grade = junior prom.... 12th grade = senior prom). After graduation, there are no proms, so actually, no one at the prom is a graduate yet, although the seniors will be graduates in a few weeks.

It is very common for boys to take younger girls, and both boys and girls can take someone from a different school, if they want.

other people of various ages. Exactly.

Anyone can go to a prom as long as they are coming as a date of one of the students. I go to an all boy's school, so I had to take a girl from outside to the prom (which was only about 2 weeks ago Wink )... but yeah you can take anyone as long as they are going with you as your date.

Was that an "all-boys school"? Confused One thing to add--some schools might have age limits. My high school didn't allow people who were 21 and older to attend.

Yeah, slip of the tongue Sad. I don't think my school gave us any limit on who we could take, but I guess they also assumed that we would take a girl close to our age.
