Hello Simon SO -
Have you tried doing a search on Google or some other search engine? Tons of information out there in cyberspace...just a click away :)
Here's the way I understand the terms....Let me know what you find!
ESL = English as a Second Language -
a) used for people living in an English speaking country, whose native language is not English, and are learning English (i.e. immigrants).
b) used for people who are learning English for use in addition to their native languge in their country (i.e. Hong Kong, Singapore, The Phillipines, etc.)
EFT = English For Tourism - survival English for travelers?
...... but maybe you are thinking of EFL.
EFL = English as a Foreign Language - used for people living in their country using only their native language and who are learning English (a bit like people in England, Australia, the U.S., etc. learning French or Chinese).
After you "surf & search", compare notes with me :) Philo |
