It is beyond doubt that Pakistan is the single largest sponsor and entre of terrorism throughout the world.Yet the US considers it an ally in the so-called fight against terrorism.Pakistan spreads terror is India,Afganistan and other neighbouring countries. Most of the terrorists of 9/11 and London blast were trained in Pakistan. Those waging war in Kashmir and other places in India are also from Pakistan. The government of Pakistan was hand-in-glove with the erstwhile Taliban and now they are disrupting the fragile peace in Afganistan.Pakistan's famous scientist A.Q. Khan has done more towards proliferating nukes than any other country or organisation has ever done. Shouldn't Pakistan be made acountable for its misdeeds? Shouldn't action be taken against the terrorists groups based in Pakistan? _________________ The difference between insanity and genius is measured by success |

I understand what you are trying to say,I know a little about the history of India and Pakistan.I know relations between India and Pakistan recently have improved a lot in despite of dispute about the Kashmir.
India is a biggest democratic country in the world, its economy has developed very fast.Pakistan is not a real democratic country, its leader is a former military leader who launch a coup to achieve his power,Pakistan is one of the only three countries which they had diplomatic relation with Taliban regime in the past.
I am no sure if the Pakistan is the sponsor of world wide torrorism,Pakistan government publicly support the anti-torrorism,Pakistna military has launched a series of attack to the torrorism network in its territory. So what you called Pakistan is sponsor of torrorism seems unture although many torrorism organizations have activities in its torritory.
I think the United States now wants Pakistan to support his missions in Afganistan, they just want to encourage the Pakistan government to do more about anti-torrorism,they don't want to push Pakistan toward extreme Islamic regime. If you push too much pressure on Pakistan ,Pakistan may become extreme Islamic government,it is not good for the war against torrorism.
It is possible that U.S would focus more on torrorism groups in Pakistan torritory if Iraq situation become good ,U.S could withdraw more troops from Iraq when Iraq troops were built up well and they can defend themselve.
Almost everyone knows that Bin-Ladan is now hiding somewhere in the border between Pakistan and Aghanistan,Bin-ladan is most -wanted person by the U.S,in order to capture Bin-Ladan ,the U.S needs Paksitan to support his missions. |

The bad feeling between India and Pakistan is the result of Mountbatten's ill-advised drawing of the border between Hindu and Muslim population in 1948 (or thereabouts). As a result Kashmir border is disputed. The border itself is drawn through very high mountains where practically nobody lives so the whole thing is a bit stupid.
Musharraf is trying to drag Pakistan into the 21st century from the 7th century where most muslims apparently want to live. This has not made him popular with islamic clerics or fundamentalists who have tried to assassinate him several times. Once again it is the problem of Islam being misused by fanatics.
Both countries have nuclear weapons, so it is of interest to those who live nearby that they settle their arguments peacefully.
If it comes to all out war, India will win, but the cost will be great. |
