Hi

I am Petr from Czech Republic. I would like to debate if learning English with Internet is really good for you.

I spent many time and money with online English programs like English Town and Global English. Was very expensive and just like classroom text on Internet.

I also found English Maze (www.englishmaze.com) what I really like to learn. Is very fantastic. Interactive games and activities for Business English and General English student. I like that in English Maze I can meet lots of friends in English Maze Room. (Speaking Room, Discussion Room, Chat Room.) Is very nice.

i am YoYo from China. I have read your message and i would like to share my opinion with you

To tell you the truth, i don't think it will be an effctive way to learn English because many children do not focuce on studying but palying games on internet. For those chidren who don't have enough money. it will be an expensive way to learn English.They will go to the libary instead,i think.

As you have mentioned, some of the online English programs are not well designed and some of them are boring and usless.

We have to be cautious, i think.

I am Hether from China. In the case of me ,I also dislike the way to learning English with Internet.

Of course, It needn't argue that there is some useful information to English learners on Internet, and also you can exchange your idea with others in chatting room. However, as YoYo mentioned, children often show more interest on computer games, and it is hard to a child to distinguishing useful information from Internet abounded with materials. Besides, you visit the chating room and communicate with people online, where maybe you can make lots of friends, but you must introduce yourself frequently to each new friend, and what you utter is my name's ..., I come from..., my hobby is ... etc. so, I think you spend many time there, you'll gain few achievement.

So, comparing to learning English with Internet, I prefer to study with books and communicate with others face to face.

i am afraid i cannot agree with u fully. i think most people are not suitable to study online 'cause few of us can only focus on studying while most of us will broswe other pages or what's worse, just play games. it is one way of looking at it is to say that it's efficient to learn English online, however another way of looking at it is to say that it's not effecitive enough.

Learning English online is an effective way, definitely! before I started touching internet, I was sick of English-learning, at that moment, English was like some trash to me.

However, since I started surfing on internet, I have got crazy about English! of all ways to learn english, posting something on some forum in English or simply, fighting with people on English forums is an easy way to learn english!! Everyday, you just can't wait to check people's postings and fight with them, in that case, you can improve your english level even when you are unware!!! what a great way!

after a thorough reading of the former posts, i gonna to know that many still hold the idea that learning is to learn. for a student or whatsoever, i personally think, learning is to cherish thinking. in this sense, learning is a tool or way that help us to achieve the goal---thinking. everyone is unique. who can tell me why. the thinking makes people behave differently.and the best way to shape your thinking is arguing and reasoning with different people from different angles.

It is because that we can browse a lot of updated information, and also we can have some on-line discussion with people from all of the world.
