Should it be "reading materials" or "reading material" if we are referring to texts or articles in general?

The plural form is used to talk about things needed for an activity/work, like teaching materials, building materials, writing materials, cleaning materials.

'reading materials' would mean materials required for reading, like a book, a marker (for highlighting), reading glasses.

If you are referring to texts or articles, you should say 'reading material'.
