I understand what position player means. What does everyday position player below mean?

Ichiro Suzuki: I was the first Japanese everyday position player to play in the major leagues.

This has already been answered for you at ENGLISHPAGE, Shinya. Please do not multiple post.

But, not all of us subscribe to the English Page, so I don't see why he shouldn't post whatever he wants wherever he wants.
Perhaps he was not satisfied with the answer he got at the English Page or any of the other forums you promote.

The answer is simple, Asterix-- it is a matter of courtesy. I have no argument with those who have complex or contentious questions of linguistics posting at multiple sites. Posting basic questions more than once, however-- and having those of us who give this advice service for free simply duplicating answers-- is a waste of our time, and tends to make us less willing to expand on our explanations or work toward the students' best interests.

The effect is that the answers received are less considered and comprehensive than they would be if the questioner stuck with one reputable website, became known there, and developed a true student-teacher relationship.

I do not promote any forum at all. The only satisfaction I get is helping someone with their English-- but it is not satisfying to me if I feel used rather than appreciated.

You seem to be missing the point that, although you are familiar with the other forums you mention, many of us are not.
I think you are a great asset to any forum you choose to help Mr. M, but I would suggest that if you are doing so much that it is becoming like work for you, then you do a bit less and have a bit more fun.
I still think that any student ought to be able to ask a question on as many forums as he wants until he feels confident that he understands the answers.
If he posts the same question on Help Centre and Learning English on ESL Cafe, for example, then your complaint is valid.

I am not missing any point. You may not familiar with other forum sites, but I assure you that multiple posters are. Obviously, from the viewpoint of the recipient there is no restraint on how many times he can repeat his/her inquiries. I am making it known that it wastes other people's time and gets him/her less satisfactory answers in the long run than if s/he showed some site loyalty.

May I suggest then that if you feel it is a waste of a teacher's time to answer the same question on different sites that you either don't answer and leave it to someone else or spend your time somewhere you feel to be a more acceptable use of your time. If you feel that a student asking for help on more than one forum makes you less willing to offer detailed explanations and help, maybe you are in the wrong business.

Teaching isn't just about time and money. It is also about helping those who need help and some of us do it not just for money but also because we enjoy it and that is what we do.

I am sorry to say this and I know you do help those who need it but I think attitude has a lot to do with teaching as well as knowledge. If you think it is making you feel used, as you said, then maybe you need to think about why you do it in the first place.
