Hello,
He puts that ball on a sixpence so many times that it is just incredible.
This sentence above is what i came across during my reading. Could you explain what "on a sixpence" means. Thank you!!

Nef is right, since a sixpence is a type of coin; to put a ball on a sixpence means to hit/throw it to a certain point.
There are similar modern expressions, such as "stop on a dime" (stop at a precise point) and "turn on a dime" (turn within a very small area, often said figuratively about cars). |
