In the following sentence, the verb show is adequate in meaning?
Each movement in the dance shows something, for example, birds and animals.
Or is it better to say "Each movement in the dance means something, for example, birds and animals."? |

I probably would say "means" in your sentence, since there is meaning attached to each movement. "Shows" implies displaying or portraying something.
For "shows," you might say, "Each movement in the dance shows something about an animal or bird, by mimicking its movements."
