Is "did" in the following sentence correct ? I think the "did" should be "will have done" because the subject("I") will find the jewels later in the future.

No, the sentence is fine as it is. The "do" is just part of the emphatic present. In English, we use the sequence of tenses present-then-future for if-then and when-then constructions, like your sentence.

I suppose you could make the case for "will have done" instead of "did" in this sentence--I'll leave that up to wiser heads than mine--but in ordinary prose, I don't think anyone would complain about "I'll let you know how I did it."
