Dear Teachers,
1. Can I say stepmom and stepdad instead of stepmother and stepfather? and are they common?
2. Where do you live?
- I live in a tree-house / I live in the suburbs.
- Are these natural?
3. once again, can I say godmom and goddad instead of godmother and godfather?
Thanks a million to Teachers,

1) You can use stepmom/stepdad--they're fairly common. Those two words and the words stepmother/stepfather are used when talking about someone, not to them. Children will call stepparents either mom/dad (or something more formal) or by their first name.
2) It would be unfortunate to live in a treehouse, but both of these sentences are natural.
3) No, I've never heard godmom/goddad in conversation or writing. |
