Hello everyone.
I go to English conversation class once a week.
There an American (from Texas,maybe) teacher told us, when absentees
were a lot, that " Everyone is melted".
She told us when the weather was bad and eveybody didn't want to go out.
this expression was used.
But a Canadian teacher doesn't know this.

Is this a dialect? If it is, where is it heared or used?

She probably said "Everyone HAS melted," although "IS" is a possibility.

I haven't heard of this either, but it is a great way to describe how you feel on a hot, muggy day. By the way, the climate of Texas has very many hot, muggy days. It isn't surprising that their dialect has such a colorful expression to describe it.

I'm from Texas and I've never heard of that. She most likely made it up or it just doesn't translate well. lol

So, I get rid of this expresstion and try to memorize another more useful
expressions.

Just one let me tell you.
This summer weather was very bad in Japan. I am worrying the rice plants are not growing well. This must not be the problem just in Japan.
We can import a lot of food from any other countries, but how about North Korea? If the weather was bad, the people in North Korea would be in worse condition short of food.

If you like imported rice, you don't need to pay much.
I am not so young,so I prefer Japonica rice( Japanese rice) and typical Japanese style dishes.
You look young so I guess you like oily food. Imprted rice, Indica rice is good for oily dishes and must be cheap.

I read that rice grown in the USA is as good as any in the world. Is it true and what kind of rice do they grow there?

There are several possibilities here. Perhaps you didn't hear the teacher correctly? Perhaps he was joking? But since he was referring to absentees perhaps he meant that everyone had melted away?

Melt can be used to describe something that has disappeared. "I shouted at the naughty girl, but when I saw that I had made her cry my anger melted away."

"There was a large crowd of angry protesters outside the building but when the police arrived they melted away."

"My anger melted away" is a nice example for me.
I want to have chances to say this or want someone to make my anger melt away.

It's harvest season,isn't it. I also hear that California rice has grown well this year and its taste is very nice. There are two major kind of rice, Indica rice and Japonica rice. California rice is Japonica rice. It is good for Sushi or Japanese style dishes. It is a little bit sticky compared to Indica rice.
We can't just be glad to hear that California rice grew well. We need to keep our agriculture so we should not import rice easily. This is a big topic in our country. Thank you.
