well, what's the difference of the relative pronoun and relative adverb??
i mean hear are grammatical questions.
1. One place (which, where) I didn't look for it was the bookshelf.
2. One place (which, where) I didn't check was the bookshelf.
just in case, the answe is 1.where, 2.which.
why do you use where for #1 and which for #2??
what is the difference??
please tell me!! |

angel-dolphin -
hear=what you do with your ears (you meant here=at this place)
1. it is more natural to say 'i did not look for it on the bookshelf, or, i failed to look for it on the bookshelf.
2. i did not check the bookshelf
...both sentences basically mean the same thing, just 2 different ways to say it.

"Where" is a word that would point to a location or place.
like: "where is the store?" - "Do you know where the store is?"
thoes two sentances are refering to a location "place" and "bookshelf" so you would use "where" in both.
"Wich" is a word used for comparison.
like: "wich is better, steamed rice, or fried rice?"
Or: "I like fried rice, wich has more flavor."
when using "wich" in the middle one a sentance like above, the second part reinforces the first part.
"I like fried rice. It has more flavor" is correct but shows low skill in writing and spoken english.
"I like fried rice, wich has more flavor." shows a better command of the laguage. Using "wich" to connect the two sentances makes you look more intelligent. |
