These sorts of foods rarely have nutrients that are healthy to the human body, and instead such foods are believed to cause health problems*,*such as obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Or *;*?

Thanks

kerstin - maybe it is more beneficial to you to see the entire sentence typed out.

here are a couple of examples using the same sentence...

These sorts of foods rarely have nutrients that are healthy to the human body and instead are believed to cause health problems such as obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease. (no comma is needed until the list of three problems)

These sorts of foods rarely have nutrients that are healthy to the human body and instead are believed to cause health probelms; obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

hope it helps, iitimone7

If you are going to eliminate "such as," you want a colon, not a semicolon, before the list of problems:

These sorts of foods rarely have nutrients that are healthy to the human body and instead are believed to cause health probelms: obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
