Dear Teachers,
1. If Im invited by you, Ill come to your wedding.
- Why dont we say go instead of come?
2. When someone has finished something very well, people in the US often say very nice!. Is this mean Good job!?
Thanks a bunch to Teachers,

1. You can say 'go' if you like, but it sounds less friendly or more detached - like you're talking about something neither of you are really involved in, that you're both just planning to go along to. We usually say 'come' because the other person is organising the event, and from their perspective you'll be coming to it. If you say 'I'll go to your wedding' it sounds like you're saying 'I'll be there, but it's not because of you'. Basically when you accept an invitation you usually say 'I'll come' because you'll be joining the other person or their group.
2. Yeah, it's a show of appreciation - it's not just 'ok' or 'adequate', it's actually 'very nice'! |
