what does "You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost" mean?
I believe there must be a figurative meaning in this sentance.
All I can get in the dictionary is literal meaning.
Please help me out |

I think it is meant to be poetic and figurative, like you said. Maybe the "magic" that is lost after the leaves are kicked is the "magic" of autumn

Hm. Not sure. But why let that stop me?
I've heard the song -- the chorus is catchy -- but I can't be certain what the line is supposed to mean. My guess is that it refers to spoiling things that happen naturally by disturbing them, examining them, probing too much. "Let's talk about our relationship." "Again?"
The leaves fall in autumn, and everything is perfect in its way until you start meddling and spoil what was there. If I'm right, it would have worked better perhaps with "You kick up the snow and the magic is lost" or "You walk on the snow and the magic is lost."
Also, why did he change the rhyme scheme from AABB to ABCB in the last full stanza? This guy is full of puzzles!
