Is there an adjective that describes people who are *aware of current parties or events" or "they know a lot of fun places that are off-the-beaten-track"

You are talking about people who are in the know. They have the scoop. They have the inside track to the information, and they are up on all the latest. They have connections; they are very well-connected; they are plugged in. They are ahead of the curve. They are trend setters, or at least trend spotters, and they may be very trendy themselves.
