Hello.someone plz help me about the sentence below.

1. This is the original sentence wrote by a native English, who's been teaching English writing for more than 20 years at a university in Japan.
"The quality of swords produced by craftsmen of the KAMAKURA Period has never been equaled"

Is it wrong to revise the sentence like this ?
"The quality of the swords produced by the craftsmen of the KAMAKURA Period has never been equaled"
