The sequence of activity is ever the transfer of the fourth and........
=============================================

I have known "a sequence of" must be used with "plural nouns". But

I have seen many sentences that really "a sequence of" is used with "singular nouns" on the Internet.(like this sentence; The sequence of activity is ever the transfer of the fourth and........)

So, I want to know why...

Really, Can "a sequence of" be used only with "plural nouns"?

I'm sorry if I got you confused. I should have said that "a sequence of" and "a succession of" are used with both plural nouns and uncountable nouns.

If so. Can "a sequence of" and "a succession of" be used with countable singular nouns?

No. Within the phrase "the sequence of activity", "activity" is an uncountable noun.

I can understand that "activity" is a uncountable noun.

But I have seen much on the internet that "a sequence of" is used with "activities".

Can "activity" be used as a countable noun, too?

So, I am confused..

Within "a sequence of activity": "activity" is an uncountable noun.
Within "a sequence of actiivties", "activities" is a plural noun (a countable noun in plural).

Does that help?
