How do you know when to use a preposition?
For example, "I go home" doesn't have a prepositon, but "I'm at home" does. |

Yes, home is unique, though we can also stay home, be home (What time will you be home? -- I'm home now), come home, crawl home, etc.
The other important area (optionally) lacking prepositions is expressions of time: I'll see you Saturday / next weekend / every summer.
