Hello
I'm curious to know what people think of my country. If you went to Belgium, what did you think of it? What did you do there? What's your favorite place? etc. |

I loved Belgium when I visited in 1985 - spent time particularly in Bruxelles, Nivelle, Ostend. The people were so friendly and I enjoyed the understated elegance of the place. Actually, I would love to find permanent work teaching English in Belgium and would be interested to know how other esl teachers have fared. |

After doing some research, I found this:
quoting http://www.phrasebase.com/french/countries/belgium.html
The environment is exposed to intense pressures from human activities: urbanization, dense transportation network, industry, intense animal breeding and crop cultivation; air and water pollution also have repercussions for neighboring countries; uncertainties regarding federal and regional responsabilities (now resolved) have slowed progress in tackling environmental challenges. _________________ http://www.phrasebase.com |

It depends actually. Personally, I have a neutral accent. A French person couldn't guess that I am from Belgium. Some Belgian people have a very strong Belgian accent. I am glad I don't have one because it's not nice.
I don't like generalizations, but I think most people having a strong Belgian accent are uneducated. Your teacher's accent is probably neutral. _________________ http://www.phrasebase.com |
