What does the above bold sentence mean? I think that means 'Those who have more vengeance and more desolation is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood.' But I can't understand how those who have no experience of being at war can feel vengeance and desolation.
Can you make my wondering mind cleared?
Thanks. |

| It's saying that those people who haven't experienced the reality of war ('those who have never fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded') are the only people who cry out for blood and vengeance (things which cause and prolong war, and ultimately bring desolation). It basically means that the people who demand vengeance and push for armed conflict are the people who've never actually seen and experienced what happens in a war. It's easy for them to demand this action, because they don't really understand how horrible it is for the people who are actually involved. |

if you have experienced a bad thing you dont ask for it. so the ones who have never faced such situations ask for it as they dont know its consequences. _________________ go the last mile_ and enjoy it! |
