Dear Teachers,
1. Does speak up! mean speak louder! or raise your voice!? and is it common?
2. Hush!, Hush up!, keep it down! and quiet down mean quite please!, right? And which one is more common?
Thanks a lot to Teachers,

1. Yes. It is quite common to hear it as a way to ask someone to speak louder. "Would the court please have the witness speak up so that we can hear her answers?"
It also means to make one's requests or answers or needs known. "If anyone needs any more help before the test, now is the time to speak up / please speak up now." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
