What does that mean?
2.The papers lift things out of context to make *sensational reading.*
To make it sensational to readers?
3. People take a back seat to fear.
People allow fear to take control of them?

1. It means, "You have begun observing women" or "You have started to observe women."
When you see, "He has taken to drink," it means "He has started drinking alcohol [too much]."

People take a back seat to authority.
Can that mean people are inclined to obey than to question the authority, simply because they don't want to put effort ?
