"Expecting too much of your children causes a bad result rather than a good result."

Is it acceptable to change this sentence into "Expecting too much of your children causes not so much a good result as a bad result."

Thank you in advance!

Hi Junkomama,

Try:

Expecting too much from your children can cause more harm than good.

Expecting too much from your children can have a detrimental effect.

Hello, lotus-san.
Thank you so much for your reply!
Would you please tell me why my second sentence is not acceptable?
Is it grammatically incorrect, or just unnatural?

And as for my first sentence, is it possoble to omit the "result" after "good"? like
"
"Expecting too much of your children causes a bad result rather than good."

Regards,
Junkomama

Hi Junkomama,

It's just clunky and unnatural.

Yes to your last question. But again, it's a little unnatural. If I had to say in that way, I would say:

"Expecting too much of your children causes more bad results than good."
