I take if for granted that crying, smiling and yawning are common gestures that every human being does all around the world. But I'm not so sure when it comes to raising one eyebrow or bliking one eye. That's why I decided to ask you all: do these gestures mean something in your culture? If they do, what do they mean?

In the U.S., one raised eyebrow communicates skepticism. Two raised eyebrows communicate surprise.

A one-eyed blink is a wink, as in Wink . It can be used to flirt with someone, or to tip someone off that there is a joke or a trick involved, or to warn someone to be quiet, etc.

But very very few people can raise one eyebrow. I can't. Some of our actors can, and it is common in histrionics.

So you can do it, Lori?

I definitely can't. I just tried to do it in front of a mirror, I lost anyway.

I can do better with my right eyebrow than with the left one.
