Hi,
The first sentence is correct.
When you are faced with a sentence where you are uncertain of the subject-verb agreement try reducing it to the most basic form. In this case the most basic form is "students are tall" so the correct subject-verb agreement is number one.
There are exceptions where the time slips but not in sentences with only one verb.

I think sentence 2 is also correct grammatically and logically. No other student is as tall as this particular one. Which student is as tall as he? None / not one. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
